CHAPMAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

  • At Chapman Elementary, I used design to bring energy, pride, and participation to both fundraising and creative expression. Through projects like the school’s annual auction and the student theater club, I created opportunities where design became a bridge between kids, parents, and the wider community.

    • Designed visual identities and materials for multiple annual school auctions, including invitations, posters, banners, and even beer labels—always tied back to the school mascot, the swift

    • Collaborated with a kindergarten class to create a deck of playing cards, arranging a press check so students could experience production firsthand

    • Founded a student theater club to further engage kids in their annual musical productions, creating props and backdrops that gave them ownership and pride while introducing them to sewing, papier-mâché, painting, and other artistic skills

  • These projects gave students and families a deeper sense of pride and connection to their school while also fostering hands-on creative learning. From seeing their artwork printed on a real deck of cards to sewing costumes and building papier-mâché props, kids gained practical artistic skills and an appreciation for the many roles that bring a production together. Parents and teachers embraced the work as well, recognizing how design could empower students, strengthen community spirit, and make fundraising and performances more meaningful.
